The Leader public cemetery is located North of town alongside Hwy #21. The cemetery was established in 1914 and encompasses 2 acres of land. The Cemetery Regulations below contain information concerning cemetery and monument regulations, requirements and care of graves. Burial Plots
Burial plots can be purchased for full casket burials and urn interments. A maximum of one full castket burial and three urns of ashes, or a maximum of three urns of ashes may be interred in any one grave.
Plot Regulations
The Town of Leader, in partnership with the Cemetery Committee, is responsible for the general care of the cemetery.
All items placed in the Cemetery by the public shall be at their own risk. The Town accepts no responsibility for any damaged or missing items.
Planting of trees, shrubs, or similar plants is not permitted unless approval is gained from the Town prior to planting.
No burial plot shall have fences, railings, trellis, or capping of any grave in the Leader Cemetery without gaining approval from the Town of Leader prior to construction.
To maintain a proper appearance of the Cemetery, the Town of Leader reserves the right to remove all items from the Cemetery that do not form part of the permanent monument. Items that may be removed include but are not limited to solar lights, chimes, rocks, stepping stones, flags, poles and floral arrangements that are not placed in an approved, permanent vase.
Items placed at the grave site following an internment will be left in place for a period of 10 days. Following the 10 days they may be removed by the Town of Leader.
Monuments & Markers
All monuments shall be made from granite, bronze, marble or stone unless approval is granted prior to a monument being installed.
All monuments and markers must be set at the head of a grave and set upon a concrete or granite foundation.
The Town requests that some form of marker is maintained until a permanent monument is installed to prevent unmarked graves.

Disinterment
Disinterment for the purpose of moving a body of a deceased person from one cemetery to another shall only be permitted upon written permission of the Chief Medical Officer for the Ministry of Health. Disinterment will not be permitted between November 1st and May 31 unless authorized by the Attorney General of the Province of Saskatchewan.

Columbaria
The Town of Leader has two beautiful granite columbaria that are double sided with ?? niches per side. The niches measure 12x12x12″. Two interments per niche is permitted, however there is a difference in price for single and companion niches. There is limited space in the niches so be careful when choosing larger urns.
Opening & Closing of Niches
The opening and closing of niches is the sole responsibility of the Town of Leader. There is no charge for the opening and closing of niches during regular working hours of the Town (8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday). After hours rate for opening and closing a niche is $200.
Decorations
No items may be attached to the outside of any niche. Live or cut flowers may be used in vases and displayed on the ground in front of the columbaria. The Town will remove these items when they become unsightly.
Inscriptions and Epitaphs
Inscriptions and Epitaphs must be approved by the Town of Leader and shall be done by a monument company of the Town’s choosing. The cost of inscription is not included in the purchase price of any niche. Engraving costs will apply each time additional information is added to a niche door. Inscription costs on niche doors will be paid for by the licensee.
