SUMMARY:GUIDED BUS TOUR
DESCRIPTION:If you are looking for a Saskatchewan ‘stay-cation’ this summer\, why not consider a one day\, fully guided tour of the Leader\, Saskatchewan district. Participants will ride on a 20 passenger mini- bus\, with the tour leaving Leader at 8:00 am and returning between 5:00 and 5:30 pm.  The tour starts and finishes at the Leader Tourist information Center.  While on the bus\, your walk-on tour guide will entertain you with stories aplenty about the history of the area\, local archeology\, true wildlife anecdotes\, a few jokes and so much more.  But\, you are not on the bus the entire day\, with several stops along the way.  \n\n\n\nPrior to each stop\, a full explanation of each location will be given\, which will help you enjoy your visit so much more. First stop is the local Sceptre\, Sk. historical museum\, which was an old school that has been transfigured into a very unique Museum housing collectibles from the entire district.  Then you will have a chance to explore The Great Sandhills\, which is the largest area of undisturbed native grasslands/sandhills in southern Canada.  Enjoy a beach like sensation in your bare feet\, except without the water of a beach. \n\n\n\nNext will be Blumenfeld Church\, a country church built in 1915 that is kept in pristine condition by local volunteers. We will also stop at a provincial historic site:  St. John’s one room schoolhouse. Then\, a spectacular scenic vista overlooking the South Saskatchewan River is also a tour stop\, which was the location of the proposed Meridian Dam. You will have an opportunity to see a working Hutterite Colony as we visit the Estuary Hutterite Colony and learn about their communal way of life    The final stop is at Sagebrush Studios.  Owned and maintained by Dean and Fran Francis\, they have moved three old country churches onto their 40 acres of property and transfigured the churches into art galleries and when combined with the thousands of trees they have planted on the grounds\, there is a guarantee that there is no other place like this in Western Canada. \n\n\n\nThis is just a short synopsis of the day long tour. As mentioned\, the tour guide will also educate everyone about other interesting chronicles of the area\, including the largest barn ever built in North America in 1914\, the local connection to the 9-11 disaster that hit New York city and the impact a bald eagle nest had on a local blue heron nesting colony. \n\n\n\nThe tour date is Saturday August 15\, 2026.  The cost is $115 per person\, which includes your bus pass\, a noon hour lunch\, and all admissions and fees. \n\n\n\nThere have been guests on the tour from all over Saskatchewan and Alberta\, with everyone having nothing but praise for the day.  Here was one comment received: \n\n\n\n     A great tour! One of the best tours I have been on in Saskatchewan. Thank you so much.   \n\n\n\n        The best part was the ongoing commentary: a very knowledgeable guide!!! \n\n\n\nTo register\, please call 306-628-3868.
